In reading accounts from 1988 and before, I heard several times where a sketch artist had made drawings or pictures were passed out in 1988 or before. Yet, I have not seen any pictures. Where are the sketch artist drawings of the Grim Sleeper killer? Did victim #8 help make these, or have police released any pictures? If so, please post them or the story/details behind this missing clue.

Sketch Artist drawing of Grim Sleeper in 1988?

I believe that the survivor helped provide a description and there was an artist sketch created but that sketch would be lost in the files at the 800 task force offices. It was most like distributed and may be found in the archives of LA news papers of that time but as far as being available in the internet then no, it's not available.
This would be a good task for a local LA resident to visit libraries and archives in an attempt to unearth news articles from 1988 featuring that sketch.
We are assuming the sketch was released - (LAWeekly - "She described her attacker to a sketch artist, and drawings hit the streets") it may not have been. I think police at the time were a little skeptical with the survivor's testimony and her ability to ID the suspect. She claims herself that the police insinuated she was a prostitute and because they had no inkling at that time that this attack was conducted by a serial killer they may have been a little blase with her testimony.

OK, thanks. Interesting they would release the 911 call now...and not a sketch artist drawing...maybe they don't have it... Still interesting that they would not try to make an artist sketch now as maybe the surviving victim would be able to still provide enough details to create one.

Does anyone know where there is more info on the victims...where they lived...ect. ?

devildog, the only information available at the moment is what's on the grimsleeper.com website or the LAWeekly.com website. To be honest the lack of information is probably because the police want to hold a few cards with their investigation. Too much info in the public domain will ultimately hinder the investigation.

Wondering about the drawing - it does indeed exist. I have seen it myself.
Why has it not been published extensively: in the media, on flyers, on this website???

I wonder if hypnosis really works in terms of old memories. Hypnotize her... maybe she'll be able to give the description again.

I tried to do a google search for sketch artist drawing of the grim sleeper...but realized that this name is new and if a drawing exsists that it would be under a different name. I found this link to history of the case that was interesting: http://www.blackcoalitionfightsback.org/history/
The police named the second set of murders the “Strawberry Murders” (a name given by LAPD because they said the victims were mainly women who exchanged sex for drugs). A Sheriff’s Deputy, Ricky Ross, was arrested and charged with three of the murders and then subsequently released for lack of credible evidence.
The first set of murders was announced in the mid-1980s after eleven women had already been killed in a 40-mile radius in South L.A. The police falsely referred to the killer as the “Prostitute Slayer” a name then picked up by the press.
By the end of the 1980s the public was told that the murders committed by the Southside Slayer were solved.
Can anyone find any drawings??

L.A. Weekly reporter Christine Pelisek has a copy of the drawing in her office at the Weekly in Culver City, L.A. Very odd that this drawing is kept semi-secret.

Thanks again for getting a copy of this important clue and posting it. I think it is great you also did the forward aging. I hope the news agencies run with this...(next we need to add the correct image of the orange pimped out pinto on the drawing). Then they need to post this on their billboards with 500K reward notice!!!
