LAPD Communication Division Operator: LA city police agency what is it?
Yes, I’d like to report a murder…a dead body or something.

Right, 746.
And what color van was it?
Blue and white.
Did you get a look at him?
Uhuh, I didn’t see him.
How long ago did this happen?
It happened about, about 30 minute ago.. ’cause I’m down the street at the bottom, so it happened about 30 minutes ago….. and er,  you know he like, he threw her out and the only thing that’s hanging out is this…, like he threw a gas tank on top of her and eh, and eh, the only thing you can see out is her feet.
Okay, what’s your name?
Huh?

Oh I’m staying anonymous [laughts]… I know too many people….Okay then,  bye bye.

  • 2 Mike Jackson Says:

How did he know it was a female? I think that was or he knows grim. He was to afraid. Way to many “Uhu”.

  • 3 Jay Says:

The surviving victim should take a listen. What sucks is that all those years have past and she might not remember.

    isn’t a 25cal. a police gun?

  • 5 gary Says:

Comment # 4, by Cody Rice:

Each law enforcement agency in the USA selects its own service weapon which is usually a 38cal. Some actually use a 357magnum. I’ve never heard of any police department that would trust a small 25cal to be used as its service weapon of choice.

Thus, in answer to your question, no, a 25cal is not a “police gun.”

I don’t think anyone should consider the 911 called to be a witness, he is either the killer or an accomplice because it doesn’t add up that he witnessed the scene and waited 30 minutes to call. How did he not see the guy if he witness the guy throwing a body out of a van? And if he were a witness to the scene and did see the guy why would he bother calling 911 if he didn’t want to give up the guy’s description?

  • 7 Richard C. Mongler Says:

Youre both wrong. Police do not use .357 or .38 special anymore. Those are both revolvers. The police haven’t used revolvers in nearly 20 years. The most common police calibers are 9×19mm parabellum (or 9mm), .40 smith and wesson, and .45 acp.

When’s the last time you looked at a cop? Over 9000 years ago?

  • 8 Justin Says:

Two things that immediately jumped out at me upon hearing the anonymous caller’s description of the Barbara Ware crime scene are 1.)the caller was able to give an exact and very accurate description of everything except the perpetrator and/or who was driving the van and 2.)the caller waited at least 30 minutes to call 911. If he was able to (correctly) give out details like the van’s make, model and vehicle plate number, the fact that the victim’s feet were sticking out and that a gas tank was thrown on top of her and other details then he MUST HAVE seen the Grim Sleeper get out of the van and place the body in the alley. Contrary to the caller’s assertion that the victim was “thrown out” of the van the LAPD officers who went to the crime scene claim it was carefully placed there. When the 911 dispatcher asks him about who was driving the van he says “uh, uh, I didn’t see him” indicating he was pretty sure it was a male. If the caller was able to provide such detailed information it means he had to have been in the alley as this crime ocurred BUT…how was he able to avoid being seen by The Grim Sleeper?
